Ridwan Muhamad Rifai is a lecturer in the Environmental Engineering study program, specializing in microbial engineering, occupational hygiene, and environmental health. He completed his Bachelor’s degree at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and earned his Master’s degree from Ghent University in Belgium, with a focus on environmental biotechnology and public health applications.
As part of the Environmental Engineering and Management Research Group, Ridwan actively engages in research addressing critical environmental and occupational health issues in both urban and industrial contexts. His interests include the development of steered microbial communities for environmental protection, risk assessment of workplace exposure to hazardous agents, and strategies to improve air and water quality.
In addition to teaching, he is involved in various interdisciplinary projects that integrate microbiological insights with engineering design to promote sustainable and healthy environments. Ridwan is committed to advancing science-based solutions that support the achievement of public health goals and environmental resilience, particularly in developing regions.
